Latinos Are At An Increased Risk For Alzheimer's Disease /Los latinos corren un mayor riesgo de enfermedad de Alzheimer

It is very important to be aware of the disparities (BIG differences) in dementia risk. The Latino populations face a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's disease than Whites. Their chance of developing dementia is 1.5 times greater!

The Latino population in the United States is projected (predicted) have the steepest increase in Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the next 40 years, compared to other ethnic groups!

This means that there are also MORE latino youth members who are acting as caregivers!

Latinos have

-limited access to quality care

-severely underrepresented in AD and dementia research and clinical trials.

Kid Caregivers is working hard to change the disparities in resources and tools to benefit the Latino Alzheimer's communities.

If you aware of a latino community in need of specialized Alzheimer's puzzles or youth members who are in need of support please reach us at: kidcaregivers@gmail.com

We will be hosting a special Zoom session for young Spanish speaking caregivers. Parents are always welcome!

Stay tuned for the Zoom code and date!

There is some good news.

-there are advances in biomarkers (medical signs)

new assessments (tests) for Spanish-speaking populations

We need more latinos to participate in research!
